Wednesday of Industry Week saw Tim Milward from Backface take the screen, with a great talk about all things 3D Printing!
Backface is a Birmingham based company, specialising in creative 3D Printing and scanning... they even currently hold the Guinness World Record for the Tallest 3D Printed Human...pretty damn cool by anyone's standards!
Tim chatted with our students and staff about processes involved with 3D scanning and printing, and our keen students got to ask questions focused on how this niche technology works, as well as learn how this is useful for our industry as we continue expanding our knowledge and capabilities with digital work. It's no secret that the world is growing ever more digital, and while we practical, hands-on type people can sometimes be a bit scared of new tech (like cave men discovering fire for the first time!), learning from professionals paving the way in this field is an awesome experience and an opportunity that students are sure to remember as they start exploring these processes for themselves.
